Budget Deadlift
The Challenge
With a capital project under way to build a gene therapy manufacturing facility, I was internally recruited to establish its operations budget. I joined the rapidly growing, 13-person technical operations team as they were preparing to take ownership of the site.
I immediately faced two critical challenges:
- We didn't know what product or how much we were manufacturing and;
- We had no business processes to inform us.
The Solution
After assessing the business needs, I simultaneously developed business processes, built relationships with commercial supply chain and finance, and improved internal communications. ah
